My art is very much a personal, exploratory and experimental journey with nature as my primary inspiration: the architecture of rock formation, the movement of water, the diversity of plant form, and the way shadow and light create mood and mystery intrigue me. For me, art is a soul connection, but it's also about subtle story telling and metaphor.
I feel most free when I can express myself in an abstract or semi abstract way. This enables me to express passions and perceptions non objectively, where feeling & sensing are the keys. I enjoy building rich, layered images or textured collages using acrylic media and a variety of other materials. As I work intuitively, an image will often change and move beyond my original plans. This is most exciting because I enjoy mystery and exploration while using personal mark making, strong value and colour, pattern and symbolism to create an image.
My objective is to share my feelings, experiences and perceptions, while imparting enough mystery for the viewer to explore, interpret and respond to the image in his/her own way.
